If there are any significant changes to the project (personnel, species usage, animal procedures, anesthesia, post-operative care, or biohazard procedures) you will need to submit the changes on the AUP Amendment Request Form a minimum of 30 days prior to initiation of the proposed changes. The proposed changes will be reviewed for approval. The approval for an amended animal protocol does not extend the original expiration date of the originally approved protocol.
Examples of amendments which might be requested include but are not limited to:
Complete all sections of the amendment form, describing the exact nature of the changes requested and a justification. Be sure to include any associated information normally requested on the AUP form. For example, if you are requesting an increase in animal numbers, please provide a justification for the increase and a justification for the number of animals requested. If you are adding personnel to a project, please describe their training and experience with the procedures they will perform.
Significant changes in procedures or experimental objectives may result in a request for a new AUP.
If an animal will be transferred from one protocol to another, an animal transfer form must be completed and submitted to researchcompliance@tamuc.edu with both investigators emailing their approval for the transfer from their personal work computer.
